Arthur Sanderson was born 12 January 1878 (also found born: 12 January 1879) in Wallabadah NSW, died 29 June 1942 in Inverell NSW and was buried in Inverell NSW.  He married Phoebe Elizabeth (Granny) Grills on 16 December 1907 in St Mary's, Bundarra NSW (daughter of John Grills and Phoebe Grills (nee Ready)).  She was born 16 August 1885 in Bundarra NSW and died 17 June 1974 in Inverell NSW.

Arthur married in 1907 aged 28 years to Phoebe Elizabeth Grills aged 22 years who was born at Bundarra NSW. Arthur and Phoebe made their home at Sandy Creek near Bundarra NSW on a property they called 'Scrubby Corner'. The property was a wheat and sheep farm and Arthur realised he had been badly advised as the farm was too small to support the family. Arthur had a bullock team and worked as a carrier to supplement the income. He carried wool and general merchandise and also worked I the timber industry carting timber from the forest to the mills and delivering sawn timber from the mills.  At the turn of the century when his brother Jack was living at Bundarra NSW, they both had bullock teams.  In the 1920's Arthur changed to horses but his was not very successful as the motor industry soon overtook the horse drawn vehicle.  Arthur and Phoebe raised a family of eight children, four sons and four daughters all of whom survived to adulthood.  Ill health forced Arthur to retire from work ad he and his family moved to Inverell.  He died in 1942 aged 63 at Inverell NSW from a Cerebral Haemorrhage.  Phoebe continued to live in the family home with her daughter Hazel and was a keen gardener and at one time entered a garden competition and won a prize.  She was widowed for 34 years and died in 1974 aged 89 years. Phoebe generally kept very good health and had never been hospitalised.  She collapsed at the breakfast table one morning and Hazel carried her to bed.  Phoebe died the next morning in her own home from a Cerebral Haemorrhage. Both Phoebe and Arthur are buried in the cemetery at Inverell.

Phoebe's Headstone in the Inverell Cemetery - the jug on the grave used to  be in her laundry and has been on her grave for many years possibly since she died.
